Sheriff Joey Lemons

Sheriff Joey Lemons of Stokes County, NC was sworn into office on March 1st, 2021. He began his law enforcement career with the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office and has served as a patrol deputy, detective, narcotics officer, member of the Special Response Team, and Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigations Division. Prior to becoming sheriff, he served as chief deputy where he oversaw daily operations for each division within the office.

Sheriff Lemons graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Surry Community College. He has been awarded multiple certificates from the North Carolina Justice Academy, and continues to pursue ongoing extensive law enforcement training today.

As sheriff, he regularly coordinates with multiple law enforcement agencies—including local, state, and federal partners—to achieve positive results for Stokes County. Sheriff Lemons is a proud member of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association, where he serves on the legislative committee.
