Robert J. Higdon, Jr. ("Bobby") is currently a shareholder in the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C.  Prior to entering private practice Mr. Higdon served as a federal prosecutor in the Western and Eastern Districts of North Carolina for nearly 28 years, which included 8 years as the lead attorney for the Western District's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, and 11 years as the Eastern District's Criminal Chief.  From 2017 to 2021 he served as the Presidentially appointed United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.  He also served as Senior Trial Attorney for the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section.  During his time as a prosecutor he handled a wide range of cases including drug trafficking, violent crime, national security matters, white collar and fraud offenses and public corruption.  He has tried more than 40 cases to verdict before juries.  He was twice the recipient of the United States Department of Justice's prestigious Director's Award  for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney and is the holder of more than 50 commendations from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies for his outstanding work as a prosecutor.  Since entering private practice in 2021, he has represented corporations, organizations and individuals facing investigation and civil or criminal proceedings in federal court, largely dealing with alleged violations of federal fraud statutes.  Mr. Higdon is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Law.
