Beth Tanner
Beth is a native North Carolinian from Eastern North Carolina. She started her legal career in private practice at Cranfill Sumner and Hartzog, LLP where she represented healthcare providers, businesses, and family law clients.
In 2014, Beth felt called to public service and began representing the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, first as an Assistant Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice and then as an Assistant General Counsel within the Department. From 2017-2022, Beth served as the Associate Director for the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission. Beth was elected as a District Court Judge for District 19D, Moore and Hoke Counties in 2022.
In December 2022, she was awarded an LL.M from Nottingham Law School through a joint program with Campbell Law.
In addition to serving as a Commissioner for the Innocence Inquiry Commission, Beth is an appointee on Moore County’s Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. Beth lives in Carthage with her husband and two daughters.
