Victim Services

Exonerees face immense hurdles rebuilding their lives after exoneration. By statute, the Commission conducts investigations neutrally. However, the Commission also recognizes that exonerees have been victimized by the criminal justice system. The victim services program will work to connect exonerees and their loved ones to the support and services that will best meet their needs following exoneration.

Peer to Peer Resource Guide – Created by Healing Justice

You are not alone as an exoneree. Many exonerees have faced the transition from incarceration and have advice to share. Healing Justice created a Peer-to-Peer Resource Guide that provides information and support to the exonerated in the days, weeks, months, and years following freedom from prison. In this resource, other exonerees reflect on their own experiences and challenges and offer recommendations. Also included are links to national and local resources.
