About the Case

Leon Brown’s case was in Formal Inquiry with the Commission. In July of 2014, the Commission staff met with the parties to discuss their ongoing investigation and the parties decided to present the Commission’s investigation at an upcoming Motion for Appropriate Relief Hearing. The hearing was held on September 2, 2014. At the hearing, the Commission’s Associate Director was the only witness called and testified for six hours regarding the Commission’s investigation. At the conclusion of the hearing, the attorneys for McCollum and Brown and the District Attorney joined in a motion to vacate the convictions and agreed the McCollum and Brown were innocent.
